LEARN MORE ABOUT HADC

The invisible demographic.

Invisible demographic describes Lee County’s Haitian-American population. Not a single demographic question identifies this population, although an estimated 20,000 to 25,000 Haitian-Americans reside in Lee County. That is a huge number of people for a population without a voice! Since its inception in August 2015, the Haitian-American Club of Lee County, a 501 (c) (4) organization, has strived to promote social justice and human rights for Haitian-Americans. The group is dedicated to providing a voice for the “Invisible Demographic.”

Our Mission

To promote social justice and human rights for Haitian-Americans by:

  • Raising awareness and addressing the issues and needs of the local Haitian-American community
  • Lobbying and seeking legislation to increase the allocation of resources to the Haitian-Americans
  • Empowering Haitian-American voters through increased voter registration
  • Recruiting candidates of Haitian descent to run for and get elected to public office

Our Vision

To improve the quality of life of Haitian-Americans in Lee County by:

  • Increasing Haitian-American participation in the political process to further the common good of the community.
  • Uniting the Haitian-American community to achieve social equity in the allocation of educational resources, health care, and job training.
